Ice hockey Pucks anyone?

Just a thought :)

Has anyone used ice hockey pucks for their hi/fi isolation supports either under speaker spikes or even under equipment as support or isolation etc.?

They look like they might be usefull.
They are made from solid vulcanised rubber and weigh 6oz each,about 3" x 1"

Any thoughts?

Generally speaking, I think isolation devices are meant to have a small footprint/signature to help with the job.

Oh yeah you are right about isolation ( Forgot that one ).
Just wondered if they could be used under any equipment really?
They are pretty cheap and very dense, thought they may be of use in some applications though not sure what :doh:

Having been hit by many pucks in my time, I would suggest they are far too hard to be of any use, other than being fired off the end of a hockey stick!

No, I played out as the saying is, although the kit goalies wear is far more padded than normal players stuff, I still wouldn't go in goal.

It's me in the middle of my pic by the way, taken a good few years back when I "mc''d" for a testimonial game for one of Nottingham Panthers players.

Hi Pete, i have tried the exact same ones that are in your image and they done er nothing, nowt, tried them under the Techie, CD player, but as they are doing nothing in my hifi toolbox, l may give them another go when l am bored, but as someone else posted they are so cheap you may play with them a little bit under some kit.

I've tried some, nice for lifting the Garrard off the shelf (bean can alternative), but no audible difference for me

So maybe worth using under equipment when you have to put one piece on top of another, say as a spacer for better airflow rather than just stacking equipment on top of each other if the equipments own feet are a bit small.

Don't know if this idea has been posted up on aos but ice hockey pucks make a super inexpensive record weight..combined with a heavy stainless door/cupboard knob...
