I made an arm mounting for my new Jelco SA-750D arm in an SL1210 using a plate from a knackered old Technics arm.
Once I had removed the arm plate and cleaned it up it looked as good as new. I turned a piece of rosewood to be a close fit in the hole, and with a slight lip on top so that it would rest flat on the plate. (Pic 1).
I epoxy glued the rosewood in the hole and drilled the hole for the central arm pillar with a Forstner bit. I then drilled the holes for the three bolts. (Pic 2).
Screwed and bolted everything back together - ready to groove! (Pic 3). (Well, nearly ready - I hadn't set vtf and bias when I took the pic.)

John,

Finally, an upgrade that I might be able to pull off myself. ;) That is really, really nice! How did you decide to use rosewood or do you think that the type of wood makes that much difference?

Thanks, Martin.

I used rosewood because it's dense and hard, and it has its uses in musical instrument making. Also - because I had some... ;)
