Anyone ever tried something like this passive tone control between Pre & tube amp? I've always had problems without tone controls, i think there a nessisary evil to tell you the truth..

I find it difficult without a balance control as years of djing and having a headphone over one ear and a monitor next to the other have taken their toll. I heard that pardon. not the same thing as the tone control but i'm ever so pleased my set up has one

I'll ignore that one considering it's from you.
I'll ignore that one considering it's from you.
Why?
And why from me, you and others have had nothing but constructive and accurate advice from me.
What I said was a perfectly good analogy. If you wish to *totally* pollute the interface between the power and the pre then do it. In fact with some amplifiers you may even get some pretty flames and smoke from the power amp to entertain you. I just looked for an analogy that expressed that level of pollution. If you wish to insert it earlier in the circuit with op amps either side, you will get something that doesn't totally pollute but only (IMO) unacceptably pollutes.
If you don't want accurate advice but just want people to re-inforce your predudices and ego then don't make it a general question to the forum.
Note to the mods - you see your withdrawal of that conflict you created hasn't solved it, you have left a *flavour*.

Cheers,
Mike.
Since good old "LH" most of the not so young guys around here know of that circuit. And yes I dumped it around 1971.

Eh??
Like dropping a cat turd into a glass of Chardonnay.
With some of the Chardonnay around (particularly cheap New World varieties) cat turd may be preferable!
Rob,
Richard just likes being the 'bad boy'. Let him play ;)

Would that be a flavour of Chardonnay or something a touch more acid like Sauvignon Blanc? There is no lingering aftertaste on my palate.
