At exactly 8.39pm today my 1210 was re-born. Its now playing dream theater, all these mods are going to take a little while to get used. Just need to get that bloody ground loop hum sorted on the SUT??

All the best Andrew, Very pleased for you and know your pain. Been without my system up and running now since August. Still havn't had my amp fixed and then I have loads of upgrades to be fitted to my beloved Techie but painting and decorating duty for the Mrs has taken priority. It's been a long road without my system up and I'm literally dying to have the upgrades fitted to the deck (and my amp fixed) :(
Hope your upgrades bed in nicely, you get the ground loop hum sorted and that it's all been worth the pain and wait :)

Many thanks guys, the caps on the pcb and the internal regs needs a few weeks to settle in. I'll report back when things have burned in. If you have a look at the Yanis 223 thread in the cables section you'll see some of my thoughts on his cables that I have just bought :cool:

Just a quick comment on the internal regs. I've been comparing the so called immense levels of bass that are supposed to be found in a garrard 301. Well the garrard 301 does have good levels of bass but when compared to my 1210 its an absolute damp squib. The bass on the 1210 absolutely wellies the 301 into the side lines. The internal regs have been in now for about two weeks and are slowly bedding in. The biggest improvement has come from the improved bass, much deeper, faster transients, and so tight its untrue. I'll post more thoughts on the internal regs as and when I get the inclination.

Yep, here goes -


Tripple stage internal regs installed by Paul Hynes.
Pitch slider removed and locked.
Strobe light removed
Pop -up light removed
Internally everthing is wired in silver with teflon sleeve
Slight modified power on switch
PCB recapped

And finally, all the usual crap removed to accomodate an external power supply. As a follow AOS member said last night there isnt much left of the original 1210 innards ;)
