Audio Al visits Tarzan Towers

AudioAl came round Sunday morning running into the afternoon, to spin some choons and he wanted to here my Harbeths, " bring some of your kit if you like" said l, and Al duly obliged, anyway, we plumbed in his Croft Micro Basic pre- amp and listened to some tunes, Al was gobsmacked how The 13th floor elavators " slip inside this house" sounded( all 8 minutes of it) and professed he would be running to his local record shop to buy it ASAP:lol:, so with CD out of the way we began to listen to some of Al's 12" system testing records, and with the phono stage of the Croft in use, l was quite frankly shocked how good this stage is, the line level was good but the phono was glorious, my records never sounded this good and to be honest we could have listened all day, l think Al liked the Harbs, so it was a good few hours spent, one which was enjoyable and educational at the same time. Nice to be invited over , amazing how time fly's

I did prefer the Harbeths over the Tannoy's they sounded a lot more musical and the bass was better

Interesting to listen with the different cartridges as well

One correction , Not for me 13th floor elevators :scratch:

But was impressed with the 1972 Steve Miller band record

Pleased you liked the Croft pre amp , hope it doesn't put to big a dent in the finances if you do decide to get one

Tee hee l knew you right Jerry, but as l have said in earlier post l do love the sound l am getting............... having said all of that the the Croft is an amazing little unit for not that much money, it was staggeringly good:)

Somehow I imagined that Tarzan lived in some sort of treehouse rather than a tower.
