View Full Version : What I don't want for Christmas!!!

Every year, I seem to get just the things I tell my family not to get me for Christmas.

I choose my own socks thanks. I don't wear slippers, for Christ's sake! I don't use aftershave. I don't want tins of shortbread biscuits. Don't buy me beer, you'll get the wrong sort and I'm fussy. Same goes with clothes, don't dare to get something you thought I might like!

I instruct the family (and friends) that I do not want presents at all (birthdays too), but it goes in one ear and out the other. NOBODY LISTENS!

I have a simple answer - money.
I put all the money in a pot and put it towards something I do want.
As my birthday falls in the middle of the 2nd week in January my answer is the same when asked.

Add that to the Christmas pot and a decent pressie is the result :)

And when you pay them back by buying thoughtless crap for them the next year they have the temerity to moan about it.:steam:

Actually you can get me any kind of booze. Not fussy there.

Pressies as weapons - never thought about it all like that

Agree with booze thing though

Fat lot of good me asking for money, when its me being bled dry financially by my lot anyway!

Ohhh you bunch of Ba humbugs! You should all apply for parts as scrooge. I bet you wouldn't say no to a new cartridge, or the latest upgrade to you turntable that might be available. You should be grateful for what you get.

I hate getting gifts that are for the home, like a new pan set, or fridge, or hoover. Why do some other halves always think that the best thing to buy their other half, is a bloody utensil for the home.

I bet your partners wouldn't mind receiving some perfume/aftershave or something nice to wear even if they didn't really like what you'd bought. It's all about the thought, so stop grumbling, and appreciate your lovely gifts.

Don't all pounce at once :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

You'd get to see it again, even if it is only briefly :eyebrows:

Last year I bought MrsB a new alarm clock among other things as the old one got on my wick with the awful crackly radio. I thought this a stroke of genius, she disagreed....

Haha - totally agree. If I bought Del a pan set for Crimbo, she'd wrap it around my nut - and quite rightly, too!! :D

The fact is, Nat, that *most* blokes don't have a clue about buying thoughtful presents for their wives or girlfriends. Guys, listen up: presents MUST be PERSONAL, not 'practical'!

Find out what her favourite type of perfume is, and by THAT ONE, nothing else. Never buy her clothes without knowing her taste and favourite colours intimately and what size she is - and that applies to underwear more than anything else!

DO NOT buy what YOU would like to see her in, but rather what SHE will feel comfortable and pretty in. Take an interest in what she wears throughout the year and what she says she likes, and ABSORB that info. I die laughing when I see the 'tart's boudoir' lingerie most guys think that their wives or girlfriends will love!! :mental:

Most of all, though, women love to be made to feel special, so the most effective presents of all, in that respect, are surprise (thoughtful) ones bought outside of birthdays and Christmas, which show that you *really* care, and aren't simply fulfilling some obligatory annual custom.

Lesson over.

Knowing Geoff's taste in women, he'd need to get her a Flymo!

That's a bit below the belt!

Hang on..... I suppose it is anyway.

Hehehe.... Ok, that was harsh. What about a beard trimmer instead?

No, its her mother that needs one of those. A fine hirsute woman, with a figure any man would envy.
