I have noticed that several members of this board are quite fond of Danish singers of the female kind...
So thought that I would start relaying information when I spot it.

First off, Agnes Obel have joined ranks with Pete Townshend as she has been diagnosed with tinnitus. She have had to cancel concerts and postpone the recordings of her second album.

A string of Danish concerts are planned for the period 31/1 - 24/2 2013 http://tinadickow.dk/tour/

Guilty as charged!

Thanks Jan. :)

That's sad to read - let's hope it isn't permanent. :(

I was in Union Chapel last Sunday Alex and was being a little more critical of the place this time and do you know what, every single concert I have seen there has been superb, the acoustics in that room are exceptional - I still don't like the hard pews, but you cannot have it all ;)

I can see elsewhere that you lot are on top of Tina D's tour; so I thought that I would add some hints about a couple of Divas. Both come from a background of choir, soul, funk and jazz.

Cęcilie Norby

Today an internationally known jazz mama.

My first rendevous with her was back in 84 when Frontline played at my school (upper secondary). Since then our relationship has been distant; The only Word I would get from her was the occational new record. So I followed her from afar until 3 years ago when she gave a concert not far from here.

Hanne Boel

I guess that she is not so known outside Denmark, Sweden and Norway

Her first two solo albums are also the biggest sellers and a good place to start.
1988 - Black Wolf
1990 - Dark Passion

But 3 and 4 also have their qualities
1992 - My Kindred Spirit
1992 - Kinda Soul

The "Black Wolf" album sold 500.000+ , not just Denmark. I once heard it played in a restaurant in Hammamet Tunesia.

Know nothing about her, but it might be of interest to some of the gents around here ;)

Can see that she will be in London 11/3 and on regular tour in London and Manchester in November.

She took Kate Bush's part in Don't Give Up on Peter Gabriel's New Blood Orchestra album last year. Very different....
