Just random played two excellent tracks by Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien and House full of bullets.

Not usually a great fan of widdly-diddly guitar heros, but I have to say he is quite awesome!.

Great to see live and tick the box, been there done that, but I doubt I would see him again. But certainly a unique and rare talent.

'Flying In a Blue Dream' is agood one to play when demonstrating one's system to one's cronies. :) Thought I was the only Satriani fan around - obviously not. Although I think SRV at his height was better - just that bit more fluent.

Love them both, but very different styles. Used to like some Yngwie Malmsteen too, but his pyrotechnic style isn't generally my cup of tea, You have to admire the musicianship of all three, but very different styles

Remembering seeing Yngwie at the Marquee, for some reason a lot of Sprinsteen fans thinking Bruce was playing under another name before his Wembley gig. The loudest gig I ever been to, the only gig i heard metal fans shouting turn it down
These days more into the likes of Jeff Beck who I just think phrases like no one else, Larry Carlton who is so melodic. I still like some players who can burn like Al DiMeola but I am not as much into shreading these days

I'm a huge fan of Jeff Beck and also Larry Carlton. Larry Carlton's style can veer a bit towards smooth jazz too much for me, but he is a fabulous player.

I remember him playing with Chaka Khan's band on the Tube in about 1985, and his soloing was so lyrical and melodic. Jools Holland said that he thought he was the best guitarist he had ever heard.

Agree tend to perfer Larry when playing a bit more fusion based stuff like Point It Up

These guys are out for (friendly) blood. Robben takes it in Round 1 and Larry comes back screaming in Round 2. At this level of musicianship, it's pretty pointless to choose sides; just sit back and enjoy. :)
