I picked up a set of these on the weekend for £50. All drivers are mint and the cabinets are great except for a couple of small marks/chips. I figured, even if they weren't any good, the 16 inch woofers would be more than worth the price. Sensitivity is 97dB so they should be a pretty easy load to drive. Downside is their size! They're pretty big, so will be a bit hard to site. Each speaker consists of 16" woofer, single midrange and horn tweeter and twin supertweeters.
After some listening to them I'm pretty impressed. Treble is clear and precise (particularly like the horn tweeter), if a little bright. Considering the size of the woofers the bass isn't what I was expecting. They should reproduce down to 25Hz going on the spec sheet I have for them, but I still think bass is a little on the light side.
Plans are to replace the caps in the crossovers and to try driving them with a Mini-T or two. Little and large! I think they also need a set of stands to get them off the floor.
Has anybody else had any experience with this style of Sansui speaker?
