OK, maybe I'm stretching the point a bit but it's too good to throw away!

My mother's friend has a Grunding Mandello radiogram languishing in her garage that is dangerously close to heading for the dump. It was working when it went in there about 20 years ago but currently shows no signs of life, sadly, although I am informed that the ratchet style on/off/function selector knobs on these do gum up with grease over the years and it may well just need some lubrication.

On the plus side, beneath a thick layer of dust it's in very good condition and comes with all its original manuals and circuit diagram.

I quaite fancy it myself but am reliably informed by "she who knows best" that the four radiograms I currently own are more than enough for anyone...

So there we are - go, on give it a home! Obviously it's big and heavy and so will need to be collected - it's currently located between Southampton and Fareham, very close to the M27.

That's a lovely old thing, Adam. If I had the room for it, I'd be in a van on the way down there now! Sadly though, I don't.

Out of interest, what make is the turntable - are there any markings on it? :)

Marco.

Marco,

The turntable is a Philips autochanger. Reputedly horrible things that are impossible to fix but a good friend and very talented engineer is of the opinion that this is because "most amateurs just don't know how to do it" and he rates them above any BSR and most cheaper Garrard changers.

The more I think about it the more I fell that I really ought to at least go and collect it and try to coax it into life!

Lol - you know you want to! :eyebrows:

Anyway, thanks for the info on the T/T. The whole unit would look lovely, in the right room, sympathetically refurbed. Good luck with what you decide to do :)

Marco.
