Blazing LEDs?

Discovered this very very good idea and ordered some Light Dims today.

I use a tiny bit of blue tac.

I change all my blue LEDs to purple, and use some wet and dry to blur the output. Mind you, Light Dims look like a nice simple fix; except for the purple bit!

In the past I've used offcuts from my local car window tint guy, he just throws it all in the bin, you may have one local to you?

There is a heck of lot of stuff which actually has a clear lens up front sunk into the facia plate, the actual LED being mounted behind it.
The HTPC is one example of such where the LEDs were just too bright. I slipped a piece of paper between LED and lens, doubling up as necessary, job done...

I couldn't bear the light coming out of my Naim gear, way too bright
Lateral thinking - Running a print company has advantages
We have some black card that will probably never be used
Position either on the top or the bottom, fold at 90' and LEDs blocked
Needs some cutting for some kit but works nicely and disappears on black boxes
If yo have no black card handy Tesco and I'm sure others use black material in some of their soft fruit boxes. That can work too

As promised my "review":
The Light Dims arrived a few days after ordering in a plain envelope (no taxes, no customs for a letter) with an extra for posting on AoS.
There were 3 annoying LEDs in my setup:
The Metrum Acoustics NOS mini DAC Octave has an extremely bright (blue) power-LED and a much less bright (red) LED which indicates lock-loss. I applied 2 silver Light Dims on the blue LED and 1 silver Light Dim on the red LED. Since the front plate of the Octave is also silver one can hardly notice the Light Dims and the brightness is reduced so that my living room is not illuminated at night = full succes.
The (white) Sonos-LED was also successfully tamed as are the LEDs on my watchmovers.
The Light Dims are very easy to apply, look good and are cheap. So I can't see any use of messing around with Blu-Tak, foils or anything else.

I have a Philips CD104 and will look at the innards if some foil can converse the display to blue.

Whilst raking in the garage for something I came across a roll of sellotope that had a bronze? colour to it, applied a small strip across the front of the blue leds and it has dimmed them to a paler(dimmer) green shade. I like free solutions.

I bought a DVD machine with an ultra bright blue LED, drove me nuts but since the display illuminated on power up i just copped the legs off.

I bought some of the silver ones and applied them over the LED holes on the Modwright LS100, as the blue LED's were too bright. The nice thing is that, from a few feet away and from most angles, the fascia panel now looks like continuous silver above the buttons, but you get a subtle blue glow through it for whichever source you have selected. A bit like the light on the Apple laptops.
