Here are some pictures of how it turned out - I'm sure somebody who's into Radfords will appreciate them, enjoy the pics!

This is an original amplifier, not our re-issue.

Don't know anything about Radford's; but, I'm certainly into building tube amps and that certainly appears to be very tidy work and a nice looking amp at that. Cheers! :)

Thank you! It is destined for a customer in Australia.

I really wish my STA could have been serviced like this back in the late 70's. At that time, nooone wanted to know and mine had a bulging supply cap and suspect electrolytics on the amp boards. Even in the state it was in (bought new in 1966), it and the matching preamp sounded swell - this was long before Glenn Croft made the wonderful little Micro preamp.

My Radfords went to a surgeon in Hungary as I remember. I wonder where they are now and what state they're in?

This one pictured looks to have had a total rebuild with only the original case and transformers (the secret ingredient) remaining.... Are you part of the "new" Radfords being made.

Very nice restoration, My STA25 III should have that treatment. I bought it second hand about 37+ years ago. I believe that it is completely original.

Inside shown here, post No. 13.

Lovely Job Will, a credit to you as always. One day I may try an STA25 with the Tannoys.

Beautiful job!

Last valve amp I restored was a Leak Stereo 20. It looked reasonable, but nowhere near the standard you produce.

Is that the original casework, or did you have it refinished? It looks immaculate.

We are indeed the people behind the re-issue Radford STA15 / 25s. Here's our website. (http://www.radfordrevival.co.uk/) In those pictures, all the metalwork you see apart from the valve runners is original. We use a slightly improved runner design even in our restorations - we have slightly increased the distance between the valves (on the STA25), increased the size of the cooling vents and have the octal holes cut to use Belton octal sockets which are excellent (Belton B9A sockets fit in the original B9A cutout). The design is just tweaked from the original drawing and much of it remains identical to original. The other major improvement is we get them made from bright stainless steel.

Loverly job

Cheers!

That's not looking too bad for an original, I've seen MUCH worse!

Thanks Paul! Will happily let you demo an STA25 at some point. I still need to reply to your email!

It's all original sans the runners (see above), we get them powder coated in the suitable colours. They are close to the original colours, which tended to vary anyway. It's a miracle they are so close, I had to pick them out from swatches under fluorescent light in a dingy yellow room!

Years ago my STA25 III was used with Tannoy 12" Silvers, then 12" Golds, fantastic, now it gets used with HPD 315's, still fantastic.

Yep, your old beast is still in the collection (where its staying), its driven numerous speakers but sounds best with my ESL57's.
