I have a Cyrus Pre-x vs. It has two pre-out sockets to enable bi-amping. I have only ever used pre-out one.

I thought to use the pre-out two output, but when the power amp is turned on there is an extremely loud buzzing.

Have checked and re-checked connections and all seems to be ok, and have now connected power amp to output one and the buzzing stops.

Anyone have any experience as to why using pre-out two would cause the buzzing?

John :)

Is one a MM out and the other a MC output ?

They aren't MM or MC they are preamplifier outputs to connect a pre-amp to a power amp.

When just using pre-out 1 everything is ok. But if I try using pre-out 2 instead of no. 1 there is a loud buzzing.

Hopes this makes sense.

Could be the way they are wired internaly. I would have thought the primary purpose is to use Cyrus monoblocks (one per channel). Have you the manual as it may have something to say about this? If not check Cyrus site for a download. It is unlikely to be a faulty unit I would think. The buzzing sounds rather like an earth loop or lack of earthing. Maybe internal earthing is through the pre-out 1 only.

Paul.

Yes, I seem to remember something about this and now I'm pretty sure there is an internal adjustment to be made.

Thanks for your reply.
