How does an amp that has 2.5 meter speaker cables and 3 meter sub woofer cable synchronise the sound it makes?

As far as I know, ever unit is "dumb" ie just does what it's told and isn't really aware of finer point such as the distance the signal has to travel.

I can't tell a difference, but if I were to make sure all the lenghts were the same, do you think it would have a tangible impact on the timing of the system? I can't see why it wouldn't.

I'm not surprised you can't hear a difference: assuming an effective dielectric constant for the insulation of 1.5, a difference in cable length of 0.5m results in a time difference of 2ns (= 0.002 microsecond).

To put this into perspective: moving the position of the subwoofer by 1cm would introduce a time change of 30 microseconds, or 15 thousand times that caused by a cable change of 0.5m.

In general it is advisable to keep speaker cables the same length, if only to equalise the amplifier damping factor and cable losses.
