I'm thinking of upgrading my stereo system, but i don't wantmy old equipment to be lying around useless, I'm also not in the habit of selling my stuff, weird i know but thats me. so I want to use my NAD stereo to power my KEF's Q700's as part of a HT system. the question then is how do I connect the stereo amp to the small DENON AVR amp? I want to continue to use the small avr to power the center channel, and the satellites and use an active subwoofer. is this a good idea or just bollocks? having said that, I want to build a completely new stereo system from scratch, so I'm looking for components that I can use in my system. I want to listen to the system for the next twenty years without getting tired of it. I also want to listen to music for 2o hours on a stretch without fatigue, I listen to Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Beethoven,Mozart and JS Bach, as well as Jazz and classical music. I aslo listenn to small amounts of soulful r'n'b, pop, and mostly acoustic music. I want from a system, detail, natural timbre of instruments, imaging, separation of channels and air around instruments and resolution. i'm not a bass freak, but it must be controlled and tight and articulate, i must hear the difference between double bass and bass guitar as well as organ pipe and bass drum.

You would probably need one of my TC-7220 amp/speaker audio router (http://www.beresford.me/products/TC-7220.html).

Does your AV amp have pre-outs? In which case simply run your left and right pre-outs via an RCA cable to the stereo amp input. *

A speaker switch is another option if you want to only use your AV amp for AV and your stereo amp for stereo but using the same main speakers, if you want to utilise the stereo amp to power the L/R speakers for AV too the use the pre-outs.* If it is an intergraded amp with pre section you need to level match the volume appropriately but you can do this well enough by ear and would be around 12 o’clock on the pot.
