Is it worth me adding this item ?

Ok, but what does it do to the waveform? A nice clean sine, or chopped like a dimmer?

If you know the circuit layout you can work it out. If not, then probably better not to use it. Can you open it up and post a photo, it might be interesting to see?

My view is that KISS (keep it simple stupid) is the right philosophy. Every extra component added merely provides another opportunity to mess up the sound and lord knows there are enough of those already. The fewer the boxes in the system the better.
