Try as I might, I couldn't find the famous Tomorrows World piece about the release of CD. But I found some other stuff. In these video clips are some of the lies that we were told back when CD was being foisted on us!

Ten minute promotional video from Philips. Including comments from Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson, telling us that before CD, they were working in the dark because the listeners weren't able to hear what was being produced in the studio. Now that problem has disappeared.........apparently!

Classics! I too searched high and low for the Tomorrow's World piece without success a while back - shame, I would love to see it again!

Some crackers there Chris especially the clothes and hairdo's - I remember that Sony advert and promptly went out and bought a Sony CDP, which failed around a month later!

classic quote . . . . "you're a div man, it plays anything you want it to play"

My hair do would still be like that American chap#s if I weren't receding.

I thought I too would search for the TW clip, but couldn't locate it. But I did see lots of references to it featuring Keiran Prendeville spreading jam on the disc... This prompted my memory, and I'm certain the jam spreading was from a Not the 9 O'clock News spoof in which a crap recording still sounded like crap on CD.

I'll try to find a video of it...

Wasn't there one too with Lesley Judd?

I wonder how many early CDPs were ruined as people (or their kids) tried the jam experiment for themselves.
