Hello fellow Hi-Fi freaks. :)

Been reading here for some time so figured I'd better say hello properly.

Apart from being a dane I've also had the hi-fi bug(bite) for the last 25 years. Started out as a teen with a Planar 2 turntable, little Rotel integrated & some (danish) Dali bookshelf speakers.

I especially like everything that has to do with ♫Spinning the Black Circle♫. Always been fascinated with turntables, tonearms, cartridges etc. The fact that with all its inherent apparent limitations & obstacles you still get this lovely sound from your speakers. :rock:

My current setup looks like this:

Rega P7 turntable
Ortofon MC Jubilee cartridge (Paratrace retipped)
Denon DL-304 cartridge
CineMag CMQEE-3440a SUT
Graham Slee Era Gold Reflex MM phono
ATC SIA2-150 integrated amp
Tannoy Monitor Gold 15" DC in Lockwood Major boxes (9 cubic feet)

Oh, and some Rotel CD player.. :D

Bottom shelf in my cupboard holds a dusty Garrard 401 that is in need of some TLC + custom plinth + new tonearm. Maybe someday. :)

Started out with vinyl again some 7 years ago (with a lovely little TD150MkII with original arm) after a hiatus from this medium since the early 90's (sold off my records back then).. Have since collected a bit more than 700 LP's - both used and new. I like all genres from classical to jazz to hard metal to electronica and so on but listen mostly to rock/pop.

Hi Kim, welcome to AoS :) That is some lovely equipment you have there, as you may well be aware there is another owner of 15" MGs in Lockwood Major enclosures already on here, the site owner :D

Thank you Mark and yes I did spot Marco's big boxes somewhere in here. :D

My Majors could do with a visual makeover and I haven't done anything to the original x-overs but they seem to be working fine.

I too am a born again vinyl spinner. I have opened up Microsoft Excel and put all your data in a blender. My conclusion is that you buy 2 LPs a week!

Question: I see you have a Step Up Transformer and a Moving Magnet cartridge. I thought the SUTs were only necessary for Moving Coil cartridges. Does your cartridge need the SUT?

Just put your data into my microwave and it's confirming that your calculations are indeed correct! :) Actually I have 2 LP's coming my way this very moment (Björk Homogenic 200g 45 rpm & Opeth Damnation MoV clear vinyl). But I've slowed down considerably of course. Grabbed lots of LP's when just started up again - friends whole collections + from inexpensive bargain basements (use a Clearaudio Smart Matrix for vacuum cleaning).

Regarding MM/MC I only listed 2 MC's above - Ortofon Jubilee MC & Denon DL-304 MC. So I use these 2 with my CineMags. :) I've also had the old trusty warhorse DL-103 before and will at some point try a new 103R as I have a "Midas" alu body to replace its original plastic shell.

But I do still have some MM's in my collection too:

Technics EPC-U205CMK3 (with Jico SAS)
Jico SAS MM-1
Ortofon VMS30MkII

But I do prefer MC's for their less coloured / veiled reproduction...

My LP's in order after I just got the 5x5 Expedit put together and bolted to the wall. Slightly more LP's since then but still plenty of room for expansion. :)

After starting up again with the Thorens 150 I got this Lenco L75 in heavy plinth (made the Jean Nantais who started the huge AudiogoN Lenco thread that once was).

After that I got a Garrad 401 (not the one I own now) in lovely birch plinth from Ebel Holztechnik in Germany. Don't ask why I didn't keep as I have no sane explanation. :doh:

I originally got my SIA2-150 amp together with a pair of SCM11 speakers - I still have these lovely little boxes. Still debating whether to keep or sell them.

Current position in new room - debating whether placing the turntable near a corner was a smart move but it was a necessary compromise. Ideally I would love to have the turntable (with electronics) in another room away from speakers but that takes some space.

Great to see such excellent spinners! (and by all means electronics)
Was the tone arm on the Garrard a Techno Arm or was it modded by someone else?

Hi Mike.

Yes well spotted it was a TecnoArm(a) together with the 401.

And apart from the SME 3009 Improved on the Lenco I also had a vintage Audio Technica AT-1005 MkII tonearm on the L75.

Now all I need is a minty Zeta tonearm for the current dusty 401 (and one of those lovely Russ Collinson plinths).
