I believe the BM Wood is a "dressed up" Glider? Sure would like to hear one some day, as i am very fond of my Glider L2 and Ace SL!
You seem to have got a very nice finish on the slate surface, how's that done?

Hi Mike,

It's not slate it's granite and is made from some left over kitchen top.

It's a sort of beigy brown in the flesh but I can never quite capture it in photos.

The Wood uses the same innards as the Ace and Glider just in a more manly pipe smoking Bruyere.

It does sound great!

John it's heavy but not massively so as the top 20mm of the granite is solid, the next 20mm is effectively a skirt/border. It's the same principal when yoy see granite tops on kitchens.

The bottom black bits are actually packaging from a Jo Malone candle. They're light and there are 4 in all - 2 front , 2 back.

I had little triangular matching granite feet but these sound better. Mad but true.

Anyway glad you like it. All I need is a matching pipe for the cartridge and I'll be a good chap:lol:

Hi Andy,

Don't know what it is. It's quite light and came out of a Jo Malone box as packing for a large candle.

It seems to damp so the sound is less hard than more granite but non bloomy.:)

Good to see you got your Kef's. I have a soft spot for the Kef Reference series, having previously owned a pair of the 2.2's. How you gettin on with em? How do they compare to your MA's, and more importantly, are they gelling with your VTA amps? Love that room, is that your lounge, or are you a lucky sod who has a dedicated room?

Dedicated room. Everybody else is watching Strictly next door on catch up and I'm listening to King Crimson.

The VTL's work really well with the 3.2's. It took a while to get them positioned but they are giving a big holographic image with healthy bass. I'm not sure I understand why the KEF's have such a reputation for needing powerful amps. They're 91db sensitivity and 4ohm - perfect for my amp with a 5 ohm tap.

I enjoyed the MA's immensely and had them for 13/14 years from new but these are a clear step up in in quality. The finish is superb as is the sound.

I nearly bought some 2.2's but missed out. Serendipidy I suppose as I'm delighted with the 3.2's and would have probably hankered after them if I had bought the 2's. The 4's would be too big for my room (5m x4m) so I don't have to worry about a next step.

Glad the Kef's are hittin the spot Steve. My Kef ref 2.2's sounded superb with my previous Unison Research s6 (raised eyebrows), a mere 30w single-ended integrated. Personally, i think the Reference series are overlooked and underrated. The coincident, point source drive units offer superb imaging and staging, and if you can accomodate them, the top of the range 4.2's would be hard to beat.

Always had a soft spot for Kef Reference, ever since childhood drooling over 104.2's in Laskeys .

I agree though, often overlooked as 'serious Audiophile' speakers, Kef must have one of the greatest speaker data bases in the world :-)

I think KEF make great speakers but not so hot on marketing. Could say the same thing about VTL amps.:eyebrows:
