At long last we have a Home Secretary with a backbone. For 10 years and seven months Gary McKinnon has almost been a non-person as he waited to learn what his fate would be. The US prosecutors painted Gary as a dangerous criminal and accused him of causing millions of dollars worth of damage to US military computer networks. What they have not been saying is that many computers on these networks were not protected and in fact many of them had not even had a password set to deny entry. The real criminals here are the network administrators who failed in their duty to protect sensitive systems.
Contrary to the opinion espoused by the prosecuting legal team across the Atlantic, Gary's soul mission was to look for and record evidence of the existence of UFO's. Now, whatever your view on this subject, looking for evidence of UFO's would not be considered a national security issue by many, which begs the question: Why have the US authorities been so agressive in their pursuit of McKinnon? Those of a consipratorial nature might suggest that they have been attempting to hide something.
