Scandic Question ?

Have commented on the influx of new AOS members from Scandinavia ( a good thing), my perceptions of humanity up there is a very educated society,
tech savvy, structured and cool lifestyle, great health and education system, enviromentally aware and most of all happy, contented, friendly,
and tolerant society (take away Anders Breivik episode), am i right in my assumption?, is there anything i've missed?,
all comments welcome to let me have a greater understanding of life in a clean landscape. :cool:

Nothing??... Zilch??.. :scratch: what are the intricate differences between Norway,Denmark,Sweden and Finland, despite the rosey picture i paint of your countries,
apart from being very expensive place to live, one doubt i have is food, is it all vacuum packed plasticky kind knowing you can't grow anything up there,
is it all Meatballs and Cranberry jelly or Gravalax ?, sorry for my ignorance if you feel offended but i meed to learn,
still i'd like to hop around up there one day. :hotrod:

The differences between countries are not that huge in my opinion, but if you'd like i can give you the current prejudices?
Swedes are mellow, grey people who discuss everythying into oblivion. "Lots of talk, small workshop" is a translated saying here :eek:
Norwegian people are always happy chaps and chapesses, they drill their oil in the north sea and when on their mainland they "gå på tur" which means they go hiking in the mountans in Norway. Norweigans are nice people but a little slow according to swedish folklore ;)
Finnish people are considered to be loud, drunk and always willing to pick a knifefight! When not in their sauna of course! :D
Danes i dont know anything about, because they cannot make themselves understood in their native language! Alright then, they make some good beer and nice red sausages! :lol:

Now, please dont take this literally! These are swedish prejudice all along. ;)

Seriously though, we're not that different in my opinion, neither are any other europeans.

Now i am just waiting for some screams from my fellow scandihooligans!

Mike, thanks for chipping in, really love to try fishing through a ice hole, yeah, i'd try 'surstromming' although it sounds like a scuba dive, :lol:
seriously thinking about getting a campervan one day and hitch my bike on it then will travel. :)

Your rough guide to Scandi peeps is pretty near to my vision of them.

1# Thats my view of Swedes, a bit stiff,grey and distant like err...Germans.
2# Met one Norwegian chap on one of my Ski trips in the Alps, really friendly guy, as i was on my own and he ditto, we ski'd together and burned some piste's. :cool:
3#Think i would feel at home in Finland although the only Sauna's you get here is when you get cremated, my friend Mika could chip in and right the wrongs in your post regarding 'loud,drunk and knifewieding'.:D
4#My exact thoughts about Denmark, :eek: apart from really expensively manufactured HiFi, nothing startling ever came from there but what do i know,

Theres a joke between swede's and finn's on how we conduct business in our respective countries:
In a swedish company there are 20 people making decisions and one to do the actual work, in Finland one person make the decision and 20 people perform the work!
