Ditto, tis exactly what i've been doing recently to see what smilies i could use, small minds are easily amused.
Back on track, been laying down a bit of ground work in anticipation of you impending visit, i want to connect my O2 Joggler to my PC as it has a Asus Essence soundcard in it, dismantled my PC and Router to move to living room, only to find the landline socket is on the other side of the room (back of the sofa)
from the TV/hifi..
so..how do i make my PC WiFi compatible so i don't have a telephone cable across the room?, i've heard a dongle thing mentioned before but what to buy?,
my router is BT Homehub2.
Talking of Scottish sweeties as you were gentlemen, I'm partial to Tunnocks Teacakes and Lee's Macaroon bars. Both are super-scrummy :)

Good taste Dave, once i start on Teacakes, i can't stop till it's done, yup Macaroon bars rock too but messy with the coconut falling everywhere. :)
The best bit is upending the Macaroon packet when your done to get all the lose bits of coconut :D

Andy,
Presume you are using a desktop since you have a Asus soundcard in it?
Plenty of USB wifi adapters around, and also a cheap PCI wifi card might be available (out of PC World special offer bins or Dixons/Currys if they are still around?) with a cabled antenna so you can place the aerial better than shielded behind the PC case... I presume that the router is wireless 54g or better or you wouldn't be asking....

Bob,
Yes it's a desktop, thanks for clarifying the need for a PCI wifi card :),
thats where i've got myself mixed up as i see people with Laptops sitting using their's with a dongle plugged in,
thought that was all i need, BThome hub2 is latest spec so should be alright, will rake the bargain basement bins for PCI.
wii.

Fair enough Andy,
The only reason some folks use usb wifi dongles is for laptops without wifi built in or it is an older spec wifi or just plain FKD. :D
With a desktop, it doesn't sit on your knee so the antenna in a usb stick can be blinded/attenuated by the casing.
The most flexible is one with a cable and antenna if possible, which many PCIe types were, but either way wireless G should be a minimum. If it is A or B, leave it....;)
A word of caustion though if using PCIe. Make sure you know what kind of PCI slot you have available and what direction it should be facing to not hit anything else, like your adjacent sound card.... I made that mistake once with a mate's machine...:mental:
