Okki Nokki question

Hi Peep's

Just firing up my new RCM

first question , in the instruction book it shows a photo of the components

anyone know what the item is under the cleaning brush ? :scratch:

Not in the standard kit box along with the vac arm for 7" singles

Second question , in the instruction book it says , Do not over tighten the record clamp or x thread it ,
have the turntable direction switch in the up position before switching on the vac motor

When I do this the vac arm gets sucked down ( as it should ) , The record turns half a turn then stops as the record clamp screw has come undone ?
The turntable is rotating and the vac arm is stopping it so unscrews the record clamp :scratch:

It looks like I should have the turntable going the other way then the record clamp will tighten itself

Reason I am a bit cautious " Lots of reference to invalid warranty " in the book of words

I think you are not screwing the clamp down enough. Needs to be pretty firm - the platter should be able to rotate both ways without it coming loose.

For vacuming the disc should be going clockwise. On mine I have always had to use a plastic washer under the clamp to keep it tight enough on the record. Hope this helps.

i had the same problem the first few times i used it. i think i was being overly cautious about tightening the clamp for fear of stripping it.

Its sorted now

You need to be careful when locating the LP it can get caught on the shaft below the threaded section

So located properly and tightened down a bit firmer it now works :)

This happens with the Moth RCM as well.

After you've used your RCM you will get used to how tight the screw should be. Using a plastic washer may help.

The Moth RCM spins clockwise and anti-clockwise and when vacuuming I spin one revolution each way.

I found the nokki clamp will leave a small circle on the label more noticable on light colour labels, the plastic washer I use cures that.

There are so many and vary so much in price, am I right in assuming that after the cleaning fluid has been allowed to do it's job, they all remove the fluid by means of a suction tube with a slot in it and a fibre protection strip?

Moth, Okki Nokki, Nitty Gritty, VPI................ any suggestions please

I use a different brush than the spreader provided as it's a bit rubbish.

I was initially disappointed with the results I was getting using my recently purchased Okki Nokki, but I found that the brush supplied was a bit lacking (not getting deep enough into the groove to dislodge any dirt) and changed it out for one of the Mobile Fidelity brushes.
I'm now very pleased with the results I'm getting, and the Okki Nokki sucks pretty much all of the fluid and dirt from the discs surface.

Having read the comments.

1. Machine only comes with standard brush and 12" arm unless they've changed this.

2. Normaly the clamp does not mark labels. It must be tightened well but not too much. I found thin records need more tightening than 180g for some reason.

3. The Okki Nokki brush does clean well. For realy dirty records try a scrubbing action. The MFSL is a little better and results in quieter vinyl. Unfortunately the felt pad on mine keeps unglueing though not worn and will need repalcement.
