Why put little LED's on cables? :mental: I have just received a Belkin USB cable and it has them on either end. Is it to tell you it's working? I usually have a listen to see if it works!
Then there is the question of noise caused by the LED's. Pity 'cos it's a nice cable, I spent £2.49 on it so it had better be good.

I have one of these... Kind of fun. The 'pulse rate' slows as it nears full-charge...
Wouldn't use anything like this for audio though!

I developed a set of illuminated USB leads but I could hear the noise produced from the LEDs. My kids vanished with them eventually. The running lights and changing colour depending on the data rate was too enticing for them.

It's got gold plated connectors so there.
Just wanted to see if there was any improvement over a freebie, can't afford your posh ones David.

Jerry,
I two belkin usb leads.one is all grey the other is the pro model with the orange insert on the plugs.to my ears the pro sounds slightly more open and clean the grey one is a bit more bassy and warm....both cheap as chips....

Hi Tony,
This is the one I splashed out on big time:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160889764708?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_856wt_1186
It's a little better than a freebie I think.
Mark is making me a good one, looking forward to trying it.

Jerry,
Just out of interest, what are you going for ?
I ordered a supra this morning. I must admit to being a bit disappointed at hearing the difference USB cables can make at friends place, alas the the Telluruim one in the context of his system could be justified for what it did. Just too salty for my wallet status....

I wouldn't know where to start making up a USB cable, it will be interesting to hear you're findings....
I tried some 'active shielding' interconnects once - they had blue LED's too :).
