My son Tom is running a half-marathon this Sunday in aid of the Bone Cancer Research Trust, on behalf of a close friend who is suffering from the condition.

His target is £300. As of this morning he's reached £255.

If you fancy giving him a hand to reach the magic £300, have a look at his web page here http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=tom-white .

Of course, you might not wish to encourage the sight of a hefty Devon farm worker lumbering aruond London's beautiful Royal parks. If so, you could always sponsor his girlfriend instead, the beautiful Helen, by texting "RUUN54 £x" to 70070 (substitute a suitable number for x).

Thanks all, it's a really worthwhile cause, and I know they'd be really chuffed with any contribution, however small.

Shane.

Tom's just got in from a hard day on the farm (he says...), and was gobsmacked by your efforts. He pointed me to a link to Helen's fund-raising site, which shows that as of this afternoon she's over the £300 mark as well.

Thank you so much for all your efforts. Can't wait to see how high they go!

Just to show they're doing their bit, here they are in training:

Our two intrepid heroes are lining up on the start line as I write, and complaining bitterly about the cold. They'll be warm enough soon enough, I think!

So far between the two of them they've raised an amazing £732, of which AoS members have put in a brilliant £60.

If anyone feels like pushing them over the £800 mark, here's where to go:

This is what they're doing:

and this is what they're doing it for:

Task completed!

Tom's time was 02:02:20, Hels did it in 02:20:48.

A fantastic effort from them, and from you guys helping them on their way to their target. Thanks again, everyone!
