I'm looking to get some jumpers (for single run) to match my speaker cable. They will come with spades at either end. I've heard that bare wire is the best connector and as there is a degree of negative sonic effect due to the metal the gold plated spades tend to be made of. Thing is I dont want to take the spades off and try to sort untold tiny silver strands which will be a right PITA. Am I worrying over nothing ie: Just put them on with the spades and done with it ? :)

Do that.

Carry on as you are or remove the spades and tin the tips of the wires for neatness.

Hi Dave, When you say carry on as you are do you mean purchase and just use as they come, with the spades ?

Why not just strip a couple of inches off each cable and thread it through both holes?
Unless the holes are small or the cable is to thick.

A guy did that previuosly for me (The guy I bought my QED silver spiral from). He had a bit left and he told me it was an absolute ball ache making jumpers -stripping the abundance of tiny silver strands to try and get some kind of bare end to wrap round the binding posts. In fact what he gave me was mad short at all the ends and ultimately i just struggled to get a good connection, hence i'm after pre-made QED silver spiral jumpers ie: these http://www.futureshop.co.uk/qed-genesis-silver-spiral-biwire-jumpers-2-pairs-p-5716.html

How chuffin' much?

I wouldn't pay that amount for a simple set of jumpers :nono:

If you must have spade connectors then these are less than half that price and look pretty well made with screw and soldered joints

Effem 'eck Frank  Have you not read the thread properly ? It's not a case of I must have spades
Secondly, common consensus is that using jumpers that are the same as your speaker cable is the best way to go - Effem 'eck man, I give in

Having the exact same cable for the jumpers as the main wire isn't de rigueur and you will not get a visit from the Same Cable Police if you ignore that 'wisdom'

Indeedy, if you have some spare cable you can lop off your main wires to make jumpers then that's fine because it saves you money, rather than some half-arsed notion of "synergy".

Having stray bare cable strands flapping about in the breeze is sometimes not a good idea either and not too many folks are deft enough with (or have) a soldering iron to tin the bare strands - as A & R A60 owners soon found out :(

If spade connectors at all ends isn't important then these will see off your QED jumpers in an instant and still half price too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-TELLURIUM-Q-BLUE-JUMPER-CABLES-HIFI-UPGRADE-GOLD-PLATED-TERMINATIONS-/320981451466?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Audio_Ca bles_Adapters&hash=item4abbfc42ca#ht_744wt_1186

Hello Effem, Thanks for the recommendations and comments. Firstly I'm fairly clued up and particulary 'tidy / careful' when it comes to connecting and installing things, in fact I'm very much fussy that way. As a result I've never been (and probably most likely never will be) victim to the consequence of stray wire carelessness. Every amp I've ever owned has had the speakers connected to it bare wire not stray wire  Anyway, with regard to it being often recommended that jumpers same as your speaker wire why is probably the best way to go, there are definately a lot of us going with the half-arsed notion of "synergy" rightly or wrongly. Either way, I like the idea, kinda makes sense to me, so I'm gonna give it try. I'm never immediately convinced when people say things like 'will see off your QED jumpers in an instant' like silver spiral jumpers or otherwise are crap. I sense exageration which makes me want to go with my own thinking even more, even at £69.95 a set. Will let you know if I like what i hear when I get round to buying them, after all I'm sensible enough to know that how it sounds to my ears will ultimately be the bottom line - Stay blessed :)

I'm a bit confused as to what you have and what you are getting..

I think I was saying - if you have jumpers with spades on, then keep them as they are or remove them and tin the tips of the wires for neatness.

Oh ok - I have QED Silver Spiral speaker cable and Mission 752 Freedoms with the stock jumper bridge bars so what I'm gonna do is get Silver Spiral jumpers with spades fitted.

OK, really confused now.

Didn't I make you some Chord Odyssey jumpers to use instead of the lousy Mission connectors ?

Indeedy - I am in the middle of a complete upgrade, although my amp has been down for a few months now til I get it repaired. I now have Silver Spiral interconnects too put away, so want to try the same jumpers to see how that comes over - A full house then, so to speak :)
