I don't know if there are many golf fans on here ?

But what an extraordinary and dramatic finnish last night ! Europe looked dead and buried towards the end of the second day , and then Ian Poulter , pumped up and playing like a man on steroids seemed to turn things round ? But even then to win 8 out of 12 singles looked improbable ? What an amazing finale .

The Ryder Cup is the only golf tournament that I follow. This one will be talked about for decades to come.
But I am disappointed that the achievement of José María Olazábal as a captain is very much under reported. In previous years people have been quick to bestow praise on the captain, but not this time. I wonder why.

Same here Stan , that would be a shame , he's certainly appreciated by his players , the guy is tremendous as far as I'm concerned ! Jose and especially Seve have helped make the Ryder cup such a great sporting event , think back to the late 70s and early 80s , USA would turn up and thrash GB & Ireland on a regular basis .

I hope Jose gets some credit , it's overdue perhaps .

Yes at times it was truly nasty verging on sickening , Why is this ? They must hate losing for sure but have the euro fans behaved in a similar way in the past ? I remember someone cheering a tom kite drive into the lake back in 89 , but the US fans were so wound up it must have been intimidating .

I think it's a typicaly British thing that supporters respect the opposition (football excepted). Witness the applause given to all winning competitors during the olympics. The golf crowd are generaly knowledgeable though obviously the odd footie supporter gets past the gate who does not know the rule about silence when a shot is being played. Think the US crowd aren't regular golf fans. It's just a loud mob turning up to be patriotic as they see it. Many quickly disappeared when they realised the US were likely to at best draw.

Didn't they just , I thought that was marvelous seeing Jose being held aloft with the trophy , won't forget this one in a hurry :) What a shocking waste of Moet Chandon though .

I'm not a fan of golf but was also appalled by the american supporters especially the booing...! It made watching it very hard. So uncouth and crass...!!!

So I was over the moon to see Europe beat them and shut them up.

They all went very quite when Europe won and Tiger lost his match...:lol::lol::lol:

Thought the booing of Mr. Salmond was deserved, I boo when I see him, Humble Pie USA?
