Anyone ever miss an old piece of gear that wasn't the be all end all?

Some times I miss my old BIC 960 with the white Sure V15 and the old felt mat that was made for a Garrard. Nothing special it even had a lameo optional record changer.But I spun more records on that table than all the far better ones I got later in life put together.

I miss my first pair of 'proper' hi-fi speakers; the Tannoy Mercury 5s. They were perfect for my preferred music (then) which consisted of lots of synth based dance music of the era (early nineties). Think of The Shamen and you've found the perfect pair of speakers to listen to them through. :)

They looked quite mad too!

l bid on some of the Tannoy M20s on that auction sight- l didn't win them:(

Still sought after in decent condition. The M20s were a higher model than the Mercury 5s if I remember rightly; biwired and metal dome tweeter?

Yeah, I miss my Logic DM101 turntable and my WAD 300B PP amplifier with KLP1 preamp. Maybe one day I'll get back to where I once was but I am never certain these days.

Cool! Cracking speakers they were. I didn't get a picture of mine, mind you I owned them well over twenty years ago.

My quad gear, the Quad 77 amps, and Quad 22L speakers, good stuff, but had to go, maybe if I had a bigger place would have kept them. At least the money went on something better, a SME 3012 & a Koetsu black :eyebrows:

I was rather fond of my DC1000s too, even though they were rather coloured and not as transparent as my Eatons. The DC1000 was a very punchy and dynamic little speaker and capable of going ridiculously loud without distorting, good fun.

I don't think I'd buy another pair though, I've now got a pair of System 800s the same size which are in a different league altogether.
