Dating Spendor BC1's

Chaps - I have just purchased a pair of very early Spendor BC1's and am trying to date them. They have a serial number of 715 so I am guessing they are within the first couple of years of production. I have tried the usual searches but have not been able to find a precise date. Can anybody advise? They have the early alnico magnets and the diamond shaped logo on the fronts.

Must be VERY early 70's. I suspect they'll only have two drivers?

Sign on to the Yahoo Spendor Group as they have sales charts in their files for the popular Spendor models. It should be possible to guess the manufacturing dates from there :)

Thanks for all your input guys, I thought early 1970's would be about right. I will have the backs off them tomorrow and have a proper look see. I had a quick look the other day but did not notice if they had 2 or 3 units.

I also thank you for the dating advice, not sure about this chocolates and flowers nonsense. Go straight for the clitoris - that's my motto:)

I bought just about the very first pair with the super tweeter but have no idea of serial numbers or even the date - very early 70's I guess.

The main purpose of adding the super tweet was to avoid the Purcahse Tax of the time. If a speaker had 3 drivers it was deemed to be 'professional' and escaped the dreaded tax.

I don't think they stock them in our local Tesco. I will ask next time I am there.
