Has anyone come across a cheap (less than a hundred pounds or so ),new or second hand, CD player or transport that will match my red Rega displays? Thanks in advance.

That's the most original criteria I've ever heard for selecting a piece of audio gear - congratulations, I'm impressed!

I'll take that as the compliment I'm sure it's meant to be. Yes this is blue sky thinking. Forget everything you've ever read about about hi-fi and start with a a whole new set of criteria. I'm trying to avoid slipping in snake oil whilst putting on my emperors new clothes that I bought from Russell Andre's.

The Moon CD.5 would be one see Here (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/hi-fi-and-audio/cd-players-and-recorders/moon-cd-5-616546/review)

In fact, all of their CD players seem to use red multi-segment LEDs for their displays - see Google Images - Moon CD player (https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=moon+cd+player&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=yqF&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=fflb&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=sMdmULbVF8PT0QXe04CwAQ&sqi=2&ved=0CDwQsAQ&biw=1440&bih=806)

The Micromega Stage 1-6 have a red display, very good cd players but can be temperamental and out of your price range i'm afraid.

Yes, too expensive the Micromega, Jonboy, as will be the Moon, AlexM. Krell are red too, but also too expensive. Even the Regas are too expensive to use just as a transport. The display on my Cambridge Audio Diskmagic is green so the red plastic would make it go brown nat8808. Although if I bought a player with a white display that might work mmmmm.... Would my LCD display be illuminated by a green led? I cannot see when I take the lid off. I presume it could be changed to red? Has anyone done this? Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.

I vaguely seem to recollect my Luxman CD player having a red display. Could be mistaken though.

I reckon the green backlight is too much integrated with the LCD.. could be wrong though.

The Planet looks nice..
