Nigerian scam targeting www.audiojumble.co.uk users

A warning to all www.audiojumble.co.uk classified users !

I've just received this email today that originates from IP address 41.211.202.190 (from Nigeria):

Subject: Equipment Available!!!(Auction)

Hello,

I came across your wanted ad on www.audiojumble.co.uk/SalesandWant. I would like to inform you that i have the equipment you are interested in buying in good working condition. If still interested please email me back. I'm located in Liverpool, U.K. We ship world wide once payment is confirmed....

Is obviously a blanket email in the hope that at least one person will be searching for some kind of equipment (I wasn't) and seems the email address have been taken by hand as I used the usual email address seperation trick to stop automated address collection.

Hopefully no-one will fall for it, but it only takes one person for it to be a success for them.

It does work know a guy that lost $12,500 on audiogon for a cd player
hijacked account from a dealer with 100s of positive feedback for 10years
He never recieved his money back

Why is that the Nigerian version of these scams always involve someone with two Christian names as their full name?

Ok, this one is less obvious but still adheres to the rules, Clark is a Christian name as Superman will tell you.

Once had an email enquiring about an "item for sale, your best price" etc saying "I'm a very busy man so please reply swiftly" and signed off Jane Peters ...

As a tip, always check the originating IP address of an email that could be suspicious.

To do this, look at the Full-Header and, working from the bottom, find the very first instance of "Received: " and the IP address it originally came from is in the [ ]

e.g:

Then google "IP lookup" to find an IP lookup site like www.look-up.net, enter it into the text box provided somewhere on the page (they often first tell you about your own IP address) and you will get a result like this:

Country : Nigeria
