Out and about during the week and was passing by Rievaulx Abbey.
Have not been to this place in years, so had a quick visit.
Still as nice as I remember, thought the photo's looks better in B&W

Brings back memories. My late father used to take my eldest for a picknick once in a while, can't go past the place without good memories.
I once shot the Cloisters on the Isle of Mull using Ilford FP4 and won a prize in a competition - wish I could find the photos but my sister stole most of them. Reminds me very much of those photographs.

Hi Graham
Good to hear the photo's have brought back good memories for you.
When you drop down from the main road into Rievaulx village, it is like going back 500 years.
Quite strange really, but in a nice way.
What I forgot to do was, drive up to the terraces which look down on to the abbey.
Might have got some different shots from that position.
Anyway that's for another time.

From 2006 to 2010 my partner Janet and I used to run a flower shop in Pickering and I used to deliver flowers up to Rievaulx on many an occasion. I always though that the place was so bloody difficult to photograph successfully but I do agree that monochrome does it so much justice.

Hi Shaun

I should have gone up to the terraces for a shot from above the abbey.
I only dropped by as I was passing, so had not put the thought into what I was shooting before hand. Didn't have much time either.
Did the best I could at the time.
