Had a go at making up my new mains power cables for my ELS57's
Cable from Dave at MCRU also the silver fuses

I have hands and fingers like bunches of bananas so found it rather fiddly

Had to be very careful when drilling out the Bakelite sockets as the new cables are huge compared with the originals

Managed to make them with no inner pos/neg/neutral wires showing

Quite pleased with the outcome :)

Now need to try and build the Croft to Quad 11 cables ( need to find the soldering iron first  )

Did you start the other thread about esl cables? If so, this looks like a huge improvement and while I know nothing about the way those speakers work, it'll be really interesting to find out if you can tell the difference.

I know the results my moneys' on :)

Hi Martin

Yes it was me on the other thread , as this one is cable related thought I had better post it here on get my :spank:

One slight problem with the before and after comparison , I only listened to this kit on the previous owners system running on a Pioneer TT and a Rose pre amp , not had it running at home yet , trying to get it all sorted , Croft pre amp , power cables for speakers and the quad 11 amps , cable for the croft to quad 11 etc , RCA cables it goes on and on :D

It sounded very goo prior to purchase so hopefully it will sound even better

I employ Belden 19364 throughout my setup and its performance/VFM ratio is extraordinary, all purchased from MCRU of course. Invest in a few of Dave's silver plated mains plugs Al, believe me they are well worth the extra zing they bring to the party... ;)

Still refining the amounts, will report back once I've found the sweet spot. I've been quite surprised at how much difference there can be for such small changes in quantity. Leaving them empty is still a factor too because with the lead in, bass can feel a little ploddy. Still working on it though ;)

I think that was meant for me Al, I bought some lead shot off of Martin for my speaker stands a couple of weeks back and he's dying to know whether it has improved matters for me ;)
