Amplifier change

Well I have done it and replaced the core of the system with Meridian 557 power amp. The result is lovely, lots of detail and great refinement and control. Can't wait for the 565 pre-amp to arrive. :)

What's better / worse?

NVA are fine amps, ime - did you consider going further up the NVA ladder? - I tried a few (thanks to the kindness and generosity of Mr Dunn) and ended up with a pair of A80 monoblocks that were top o' the line at the time - bloody good amps! By box-swapper standards, I kept them for a long time - well over 6 months! :thumbsup:

Back on topic I've been thinking about a return to solid state and NVA is definitely an itch I would like to scratch again. My old 50W NVA integrated was a great amp but didn't have quite enough clout for my speakers ... Would definitely like to try the mk2 A80 monos.

Well, since entering the BSE (BoxSwap Era) of happy retirement and having time to play, the MBL speakers are getting on for 30 months and the Parasound A21 amp about 14 months and counting. They really are cramping my style a bit! :rolleyes: :eyebrows:

Yep, you get superior clout, control and sophistication as you go up the NVA amplification ladder. The same basic musicality remains, it just gets better. I'd love to hear some of the NVA Statement amps, and I know Richard would like me to hear them, but Essex is a long way from Deepest Glos, sadly. :(
