Very interesting, thanks for posting these, but they missed some steps out What comes off of the lacquer is a father you then re-plate and make a mother and re-plated again to form the stamper. Otherwise you would have to re-cut every few thousand records as the stampers wore out and you could only use one press at a time.

A complete aside Shure, Stanton and I think Phillips used to make styli that had a v-shaped end so the stampers could be played to check condition.
