Hi, I am a very satisfied user of the Isonoe feet for the Technics SL1200 & SL1210 turntable. The item is highly regarded by the hi fi forums of which I am a happy member of one. It was through such forums and their glowing recommendations of the Isonoe feet that brought them to my attention and me ultimately making the purchase. Although most Technics turntable owners view and express these as the best feet upgrade, there are some who say the silverish finish makes them stand out a bit bling on the black deck (SL1210) and that they are more suited aesthetically to the silver finish of the SL1200. I and many others find they look great on our Black SL1210's. That said I looked at mine today and thought although the feet look fine to my eyes, It would be great if Isonoe offered the option of the same feet with black finish similar to the current silver ones. A brushed steel black finish would also look very good too. If you are at all able to produce such an item I am sure judging by what I know that it would be very well received and also sell well too. I actually would most certainly purchase a pair in black, as well as endorse them by way of recommendation on the forum. Hope this is something you will look to do as you would then have both versions of Technics SL12XX's ( SL1210 - silver & SL1210 - black ) covered.

Maybe we could use this thread as an informal petition showing interest. I for one am interested in a black finish.

And why not try asking the manufacturer to produce them in black metal type finish as an option and see what might materialise ??
- Not many of us want to get cans of paint out and start sprayin, which seldom looks as good as something manufactured that way properly, surely even you know that Andrew :lol:

:lol: Your so upbeat Andrew, If and it's a big if they do offer black as an option I doubt they'd add £75.00 more as thats what the Isonoes cost anyway - I'd pay maybe an extra £10.00 for black, but thats just me :)

OK maybe 75 quid was being optimistic, its probably £100 and they'll say that its special anti-resonant paint especially designed to reduce every single type of vibration every recognised by man by a factor of 150%.

Well they are aluminium so could be anodised black (they are probably clear anodised now). However, the manufacturers may not want to double their stock by taking on two finish options. To be honest, as said earlier, it's not difficult to disassemble them and just spray them satin black - it's reasonably easy to get a really good finish with small objects like this.

Hi guys, Received the following reply from Isonoes Managing Director:

Hi Rob,

We can make Isonoe Isolation Feet in virtually any colour (the magnesium alloy anodises well, so you can colour to any tone the anodiser can offer, or you can plate them). I’ve had samples made in black, gun-metal, red, blue etc. Unfortunately, the largest distributors stated that they would have to stock a greater variety of products on the shelf and it would make their inventory management more difficult.

My suggestion, if you want black feet, is to badger the agents. If they concede, some can be made. From my point of view, making small quantities is financially impractical (the product is entirely made in the UK – which is quite rare these days). The anodiser we use finishes for most of the UK’s more respected hi-fi OEMs and is around three times the cost of the local anodising shop. If a decent order comes to me, I’m game.

Get satin, not gloss - specks of dust settling into the wet paint show really badly on gloss and it is a lot easier to get a good finish with satin (also need grey primer).

You may want to get a tin of self etch primer as well, otherwise your nice paint job will not be sticking very well to the aluminium - it is available from them, though rather expensive and not overly pleasant stuff to use indoors.
