Has anyone here ever captured a ghost on camera?

We can all use photoshop these days so if anyone has something then make it original.

One mysterious image is this.. Supergrass's In it for the money album cover.

Apparently the place was deserted but to the left of the picture you can clearly see someone standing there watching. They all swear that nobody was there as it's really quite clear.

The Supergrass one is pretty creepy. But I wonder if it is not just an old style petrol pump?

It looks like a chap in a Donkey jacket, dark trousers, grey top and a white hard hat to me. In fact he looks suspiciously like my old gaffer. "Bob? Bob!!! Step into the light Bob... (Bob is still very much alive incidentally and would find this highly amusing) ;)

To be honest, I don't think any of them look very creepy.

all creepy stuff...

It would be interesting if anyone has anything they have taken themselves too... A friend of mine took a picture in Sheffields city center once and it had an image of someone leaning against a wall/doorway. I was there and there wasn't anyone there as far as I /we remember. Well, anyone that was semi transparent anyway.... That was mega creepy.

Bob!.... haha... that made me laugh.

Agreed, it's a creepy one. The one in the attic I have seen before and it still puts the shivers up me. Not sure about the peppers one though... One of them orby things but it can still be said that it's an insect or dust floating about.

70's ghosts... cool.

Funny that, you always seem to get ghosts of white ladies and monks etc but never seem to get pictures of 70's funky ones in velvet shirts and bell bottoms.

Never seen one or photographed one but apparently theres been some strange goings on at the old house my sis has in london. The TV turns itself on at various times during the day!

I reckon my brother in law needs to get the rewiring done, they suspect something more ethereal.

I once spent the night here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chillingham_Castle
supposedly one of the most haunted places in the country, many people have photographed orbs and things in the grounds here. It has a pretty gory history. I stayed in the bedroom where most of the sightings had occured. Fortunately for me I'd had a fair skinful and went out like a light, I was aware of strange tapping noises on the wall behind my bed but remembered thinking to myself if thats all you are going to do then knock yourself out!

My colleague who was sharing the same room couldnt settle in there and spent the night in terror in the living room keeping the log fire stoked... unless of course i just stank and he was being polite! Like i say, i'd put a fair bit away that night:cool::cool::cool:

Here's a weird picture taken in Haworth cemetery many years ago, I've often wondered about the grey shape on the right of the picture.http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8037/7980027801_7c1cb50716.jpg

people seem to need to believe in them but i've never seen anything definitive to say yup theres one there. to be honest i very much doubt they exist. it seems more like that idea we had as kids wanting horror movies to have some truth to them. but we all know theres no vampires or werewolves out there either. similarly why do some people get spooked with cemeteries? doesnt matter if your there on halloween at the dead of night, its not like theyll all jump up and chase after you! :eyebrows:

I'd always taken the subject with a pinch of salt until I experienced a sighting in my parents pub, which is documented elsewhere on AoS. No photographs unfortunately as I was unaware it was a ghost until I did a bit of research at the local library at the behest of one of our regulars.

Geoff, I felt the same way as you before this incident occurred.

Well here's a story which you can make of what you will - I still have an open mind about it and am to this day unsure what went on that day, but it has made an indelible memory that is as clear today as if it had only happened last week, yet it occurred around 1967.

Anyway, I used to live near some riding stables in a small village called Amport near Andover and there were tales of a ghost called 'the white lady of Amport'. Anyway, my brother used to ride and I would sometimes go there with him for something to do. I was told to never go in the stables alone because of the horses - but others joked about the white lady. So being a precocious 8/9 year old, as soon as I got the chance I went in the stable block on my own. I was scared s***less and the first few times saw nothing and wasn't looking for anything, just going where I was told I shouldn't. But one time I was looking at a horse and saw what I thought was the hazy figure of a woman - she was all white. I ran out of there and didn't utter a word to anyone. At the time I was 100% convinced I had seen a ghost and still remember it clearly. However, common sense now tells me it could have been a trick of the light or a trick on my scared and impressionable young mind - but I still have a nagging feeling my instincts were right back then and it was something other than a trick of the light - but who knows. I was not the first or last person that believed they had seen her.

I never went anywhere near the riding stables alone again either.

A cynic might say an 8 year old, who has been prepared to see a ghost is very likely to believe they've seen one. Then again...

Couldn't agree more, but it certainly made an impression on me that I still cannot explain over 40 years later. Ordinarily I'm a very science/fact oriented person who sits firmly in Richard Dawkins camp, but this was an odd experience

Ashmore
14-11-2012, 20:48
I share your orientation, but the mind is certainly a mysterious place. I suspect our capability for logic is an overlay and that we're essentially emotional creatures. Our emotions must serve some biological purpose (eg 'love' creates circumstances for reproduction and raising children in a social group. 'Gut feeling' aids survival in hostile environment etc). That emotions also enable us to be creative, like music and believe in fantastic stories is perhaps a wonderous by-product.

Or maybe the ghosts are real!

well its certainly an open book for most, but having watched family members pass away ive never felt frightened by death. at the moment one of my cats is near the end of her life, most she does is move her head and try and get more comfortable but i dont feel like putting her down. it will just be plenty of cuddles and as much comfort as i can give. i wouldnt mind if she did decide to come back to haunt me lol but id rather she just rested in peace when that time comes. from the looks of it, its only hours or days.

We visit the Weald and Downland museum (http://www.wealddown.co.uk/) every year for a show and camp on site so naturally we all go on a ghost hunt after dark and more importantly after a few drinks, most of the houses are locked up for the night but a few arn't one being the Market Hall dating from 1620, this year and last a small "Orb" has been captured on camera

They have filmed most haunted there as well, its certainly a spooky place to walk around.

My brothers old house has an elderly lady he used to see walking down the stairs every so often, i just keep an open mind about it all

The Grand Wazoo

So when they moved the buildings to their current location the ghosties must have gone with them. Must be one of the benefits of being an orb!

The Black Adder
15-11-2012, 09:33
lol... Orbs.

Or an insect being blasted by IR light and out of focus.

Why didn't Most Haunted go HD?.... Hmmm Might find out that Orbs have wings maybe? A particle generator can also used in post production for a perfect Orb.

Skeptic?... No, I do believe there is something in ghostly phenomenon but when it comes to ghosts having thought patterns that is when I lose interest.

Most Haunted... Clever but this is not what you want to go viral if you want another series.

Orbs are quite an odd phenomenon. Quite possibly they have a rational explaination but they are certainly not insects. Motes of dust is more likely.

There are NO, gods, ghosts, ghouls, little green men, fairies, apparitions or supernatural, mystical, otherworldly, etc., phenomena or things of any kind, Other than what people imagine.

About 8 years ago at work had a weird one.

Couple of mates who lived there heard strange noises.

I was working round there with 2 others.
Got there at 9 with no one else there.Heard a bag of tools being dropped on the concrete floor next door so made a cup of tea thinking it was the chippy.
No one there and all doors locked.

Didn't bother me but was strange as the noise was crystal clear.

A friend and myself were walking down our road, (Osgathorpe road, Pitsmoor, Sheffield)we must have been 13 or 14. We saw an old woman smiling and looking down at us from an attic off-shoot window. We both looked at each other as we knew that the house was un-inhabited, had been since a family was evicted from there about 6 months previous. We then looked back up and we both just stopped.. vanished. "did you see that?".. "yep". We stood there for ages staring up at the window, waiting and just making sure we didn't imagine it. Nothing returned.

To this day I can remember her face, a weird thing to happen. The timing of us looking, then looking away and then back was literally seconds. We then walked up the drive to see if anyone was inside as best we could, nobody... not a soul. We went round the back too and looked over the fence and same again... nothing.

That was my first ghost sighting and it was really weird. And we the bus in to town.

I have never captured a ghost on camera, but my cat Oscar and I where in the hall way when we both saw a cat cross in front of us and just disappear. Now you may think this sounds stupid, but I looked at Oscar and he looked at me and went off to the wall looking for this cat. It was soooooooooooooooo strange.Dom still doesn't believe me.

Right, finally found it. If you look where our sons chest is right in the middle of the photo you will see an odd face and what looks like an outstretched hand. Son is lying horizontal across the image with head on left.

Should add that I don't believe in all this grollocks but it freaked us out at the time. He had an imaginary friend for most of his childhood called tonka (Never had the toys or anything). I never thought anything about it until a couple of years ago and did a search and apparently Tonka is a popular name in Croatia and Slovenia...

It's odd isn't it. Obviously just a trick of the light but we burned the first born at the steak (sic)as a matter of precaution anyhoo....better safe than sorry and all that.:eyebrows:
He's actually grown up the most grounded person you could imagine given the parentage and ghouls in the womb....though he had a few odd "stories" when he was very young.
We were stopping at a 17th century cottage for a few months whilst our house in the UK was being "done up" and he swears he saw a pair of yellow eyes in the night - not freaked out or anything. The again France on hols when he was about 4 he claims he saw a broom moving in his room (he had just read the Sorcerers apprentice though)
