DIY power supplies

Just wondered if anyone makes their own power supplies for things like dacs, mini-T amps etc.

Having just repaired my kaput little pinkie due to my own stupidity.

There really is very little inside and it all looks very simple to make something very similar.

I had to replace the toroidal transformer in mine and it was very easy.

Anyone made their own? :cool:

Yup, I've made power supplys for dac, pre-amps, turntables, phonostages and various other bits of hifi.

Yep, but have relied on others for voltage regulators though. SuperTeddyReg and Paul Hynes. A logical mind and care and attention to detail is all that's required. A healthy respect for electricity is also important.

The boxes finally arrived last week so the regs will have a home very shortly :)

Yup, as Northwest says - not very interesting.
My Andromeda actually has a half decent dac input, but I wanted to push the bounderies a bit :lol: and learn a fair bit along the way.

Paul is the genius here, I'm more the crazy guy with a set of decent tools :ner:

There is more to go in there yet as I now have a USB / i2s board to power.

All in good fun and the best possible taste.

Stephen, you and Mark (Reid Malenfant) should get together one weekend because I'm pretty sure that between your 'power supply' and his 'Fridge' the two of you could probably come up with a Frankenstein's monster for the 21st Century... :lol:
