Wow - what a great looking amp. 10Kg - so no lightweight - £249. how can they do it for that price?
230v Euro voltage, too.

Well, yes, OK - my old MF F18 amp weighed in at 53Kg - so my amp was heavier than your amp. :upyours: :D

I hasten to add that I have neither seen "in the flesh" nor heard any Dared component, but the item looks good in the pics and received a good review on 6 Moons.

Has anyone taken up the offer of a trial?

I might be tempted if I had 250 quid to spare, although having heard a quality pair of valve mono's in my system which were only slightly better sounding than my Mini-T it would have to be damned good ;)

That little amp is obviously a loss-leader, but £249 for a little valve amp, NEW and hopefully ok with UK mains is an absolute steal. Grab one now while it's at this price FFS. I have a portch to repair/replace and just can't spare the funds, but for that price......... :)

Used in the MIG F25. The MIG F15 used the GU29. The Americans thought it was a joke using such old technology until it was pointed out that in the event of a thermo-nuclear attack the resulting EMP (Electo Magnetic Pulse) would wipe-out the semi-conductor electronics in an aircraft. On the other hand, valves would be immune to it.

And so it should.

Love the look of the 6C33C and have an Audioromy which uses the FU29 which is the Chinese version of the GU29.

Hi Scott,

what speakers would be a good match for the VP-16 on a budget?

I seen the klipsch rb-61 mentioned before. What do you think?

Had one of Scott's DARED EF-99 headphone amps to review (http://hifipig.com/dared-ef-99-headphone-amplifer-and-usb-dac/) for the last few weeks.
Thought it was a great little performer for the dosh and could quite happily live with it long term. Be interesting to see what a bit of tube rolling would achieve with it!

Scott kindly sent me one of the little headphone amps out to try ,must say for the money (£250) you can't go far wrong .The only thing I will say is to make sure you give it a good few hours burn in as over the days of using it it just got better especially in the bass which at first was a little loose .
the power supply on its own would probably cost £250 from some companies so considering this is a usb DAC & valve headphone amp I can see Scott doing well with these.
