View Full Version : 211 tube recommendations
Does anyone have any recommendations for what is the best value versus quality buy for 211 valves today? I have the Shuguang 211s, but are looking for a new set to do some tube rolling in my SET amp.

I have yet to find a Chinese 211 that is happy about 1kv, below that they are ok. Assuming your heater supply is ok, I would spend the extra on a pair of GE VT4/C, I have had a pair in everday use for the last 6 years, still sound better than the new Chinese ones.
I'm using Psvane 211-T's at the moment which sound very nice, I don't know what the HT is in my amp though.
I have a pair of GE VT4C spare if interested?
And a pair of Golden Dragon 211 too...
They will work over 1kv, but I think the forces on the electrodes seems to cause them to creak a bit.
Thanks for your replies. I have sent you a PM, Mike.
Interesting article on the 211 tubes:

I've bookmarked his blog, lovely looking 211 amp. I have an 845 SE amp, and I assume most 211 warnings apply to that also.
I think so, same for GM-70 copper and graphite variants. I have DIY hybrid mono 211s (211 used as a driver for a MOSFET output stage), keep meaning to try a GM-70 instead.
