These were one of KEF's budget designs back in the late 70s/early 80s. Nothing special if my memory serves me correctly. A friend of mine had a pair back then.

Might go have a looksee at them tomorrow anyway
Not run it by the missis yet, that's usually the deal breaker anyway

YES! GET THEM!!!

I sold them at the time and these, and the Chorale III and IV (IV models offered different colours, that's all) were very good. If you gently roll the covers up after removing the bottoms, check the driver bolts for tightness and the little tweeter screws too, since this will sweeten the treble.

Didnt make it today in te end ... She is only up the road from me but it's far too far to carry them

Put it this way, these "body-stocking" KEF models had some verve to them, before they went all bland and uninteresting with their cheap models - the Coda II and III were so disinterested IMO and just went through the motions.

well I really like them! £35 in the end with the technics receiver!
They are replacing the tiny little dynaudio a42's which just couldnt even come close to filling the 800sq foot office ... for £35 these are a whole lot better!

No gotta disagree there Dave. I really liked the old Coda III, It would put any modern budget speaker to shame.

Hamish you are crazy for thirty quid I would have made a few trips and got a bit of exercise. No, I lie I would have got a taxi ;)

Yep, they sound perfect to me

Ive not even taken the grill sock things off yet mind ...
If I think to I'll take a screwdriver to work tomorrow and have a closer look at them!

I can't get the grills off without taking out some staples ...
Just popped to the office to pick up a camera and thought I'd take 10 mins to have a listen to the set up out side of work hours without the usual distractions etc
The room is pretty big and does have a funny acoustic but these things do sound really nice!
I certainly don't think there is anything wrong with the drivers!
With this techie amp I'm basically getting a warm yet forward and fun sound ... Basically spot on for the office!
Cheers for the push in the right direction Dave! (and advice Andre :))
