Greetings from the great Metropolis. Hi-fi has been a hobby for forty years so I have played just about everything but wax cylinders. As a fifty six year old white male you will be unsurprised to learn my musical tastes include rock, modern jazz and classical. Having worked it IT for twenty eight years it was inevitable I would end up building a computer-based system. The current setup is a NAS containing 200 Gbytes of music files, played via a PC running Foobar2000, Caiman DAC, WAD K5881 valve amp and DIY speakers with Audax full range drivers.

Chris

I forgot about wire recorders. Slightly better than pre-recorded Compact Cassette and only just behind Eight-Track. And yes, I did own Cassette and Eight-Track recorders back in the day.

Well, there are one or two members here who have 8-tracks & quite a few cassette folks. Reel to reel is good too!
The mention of wire recorders was just a joke.

I had a wire recorder and regret not hanging on to it. It was a technical marvel of engineering and something I had never seen before or knew existed.
