Hi all any one know anything about these carts please and the phono pre.
Coral 777ex and phono pre.
I thought they was worth the £50 the lot was worth it

I remember them just about but the Coral 777ex is the one that grabbed my attention. What a find! I had a friend who modified one by discarding parts of the outer body. It performed better than other carts that I had heard costing many times more. A worthy keeper.

A good little lot for £50! Sometimes those ADC headshells can fetch £25 and I think the Coral is highly regarded - probably get over £100 for it easily on eBay.

Getting them from a fellow radio ham.He says less the half hour use on the coral 777ex.Its the phono preamp more than anything i need info on if any one can recognise it.Runs on a pp3 9v battery.

The Coral 777EX cartridge has an elliptical stylus with an output of 0.3mV and weighs 5.5grams. The estimated dynamic compliance is 17cu and recommended loading is 20-500 ohms. Tracking force is 1.3-2.3 grams.

The Videotone HA-200 was a low cost step-up device which was normally partnered with with Coral at that time(1980).

Videotone was a division of Perdix Components Ltd., a British electronic manufacturing business in the 70's. The phono preamp was regarded as sounding awful.

Hi all
Well they arrived this morning bright and early.I have fitted the Coral 777ex to the techie as is without the supplied videotone pre as I needed to change the din plug to phono plugs"now done" so straight into my preamp no mc input and it works lol had to up the volume a little but it sounds very good indeed.Playing a few Frank sinatra for the vocals and the big band sound backing him.Very musical indeed.
Now not sure if the videotone brings it upto line level input or uses a step up transformer.I dont want line level as not enough inputs and my preamp has two phono inputs and want to use them.
