Hi from Liverpool

Hi,

I'm a vinyl fan with a Linn/Naim system. I've started to dabble with valves with a second system for my office using either vintage or bargain basement kit.

My musical tastes are fairly varied, starting with post-Punk and moving through 80's and 90's Indie. About 15 years ago I started to listen to a lot of psychedelic music. Recently I've been trying to listen to a bit of jazz and classical music.

Sounds like you have good taste - I grew up with late 80's / early 90's indie courtesy of the late great John Peel. I was a teenage shoegazer :)

Lately I've been trying to put together a collection of the best 7" singles from that time, old indie 7"'s often had great DIY artwork, and because of the short runs, they're sometimes quite rare, even if they aren't too expensive (though some are of course, some insanely :rolleyes:). The first single I owned was by The Woodentops :D

Anything from 13th Floor Elevators and Doors through Cope and the Teardrops on to Spacemen 3, Spiritualized and their offshoots. I'm a big fan of current bands like Wooden Shjips, Moon Duo and White Hills.

Thanks for the welcome. FWIW I grew up listening to Peel in the 70's, hence my love of The Fall, Joy Division, Echo & The Bunnymen to name but a few.

There was a fantastic blog called "I was a teenage shoegazer". I'm a big fan of MBV, Ride and Slowdive from that era amongst others.

Pale Saints were my favourite. At least they have remained a favourite of mine after the likes of My Bloody Valentine stopped being such a draw. I used to be a big fan of Belinda Butcher when I was a hot-blooded 15 year old!
