I am about to buy the JBL l212 system, do they need a lot of watt,s or will the Sansui AU-717 be enough
for these speakers?

James B Lansing speakers are kind of notorious for being rather efficient :eyebrows:

I reckon 25W per channel could well make as much noise as 100W per channel with a lower efficiency speaker.

I second that. The more prestigious JBL models still use superb quality, high efficiency drivers. Of course, all the older seventies and eighties models were decently sensitive, one of my favourites being the L26 Decade, very nice.
