Variable O/P mod for Bushmaster TC-7530DC

Many people have asked me if it is possible to mod the standard TC-7520DC so that the fixed output can be converted into a variable output. The following pictures show one simple method of how this can be achieved. Additional text will be added to each picture as soon as I can.

You'll need four pieces of insulated wire of different colour as a bare minimum. But four screened pieces of wire are even better. The screened ends can then be soldered onto the ground plane of the PCB. I have used ordinary wire with pins at the ends so that I could take pictures and show the area where the ends of the wires should be soldered to. So the finish is not A1. It's rough at the moment for demonstration purposes.

Any interests yet in DIY projects for the BM? I have been playing with a few, but maybe we should wait till it's too cold to go out and do far more interesting things right now perhaps.

Must admit I'm surprised nobody got the itch to have a fiddle yet . You could be right though Stan, maybe more interest when the cold nights are here :) nothing better than trying a few tweaks.

I'm not sure it can be improved upon without some major surgery...if at all! :eyebrows:

A good linear PSU from Nick and theres not much else to tweak!

That hasn't stopped me from searching, just in case I stumble on an eureka moment :). I do have some cutting edge regulators to try out from a certain manufacturer, but they need an adapter board designed around them and they are fiddly to work with due to their minuscule size. They were originally designed for mobile phone and satellite communication, so the noise specs are out of this world so to speak. 300 nV √Hz at 50mA :eek:. The Murata regs that were used to modify the Caiman are rated at 50mV. This gives you some idea of how silent these new regulators are. I am looking forward to hearing them in action come the winter months :D.

OK, so this is going to sound sycophantic and gushing, BUT, it's how I feel about a brilliant product and great service. Ive had a Caiman and now a BM. I play through a SB Touch, into Temple Audio Gold, Tellurium cables , Arcam 73 for cd: I wont go into the details too much. I love the sound I produce from my Dynaudios, Ill post details if there's interest.
I adore detail, and I get it in a v musical package so the BM really shines in my system, modest, probably £4000 when brand new.
However, recently my BM gave up the ghost, not a dickeybird!! I emailed Stan, he immediately diagnosed a firmware failure, asked me to post it back, plus he would throw an undefined upgrade for no particular reason. Did that, got the unit back pronto, powered up, and was totally gobsmacked by the DETAIL, Soundstage and etched separation (I now believe I know what that terms means) that I now have, Everything is now sharper , greater detail etc but all in a v musical way blah blah blah, you've all heard this stuff before, but this is whole new kettle of budgies. I am delighted beyond measure with the sound, and just as much with the impeccable service. Upon enquiry Stan told me this is the Venom Power supply mod, Thanks again Stan
