Hi all

does anyone know where I can buy individual bolts to fit a cartridge? Some kind of kit might also be useful.

Just trying to fit a SC35C to my Lenco headshell:

The Lenco headshells have an imperial size thread

#3, 48 threads per inch NOT the usual M2.5 size

I don't know a uk supplier, but www.microfastners.com and www.smallparts.com sell them online (both US supplers)

Maybe someone on Lenco Heaven has spares that they will give/sell you?

If I have any, you are welcome to them with pleasure. Do you need nuts to go with ?

Jay,

Thanks a lot, nice site and will bookmark it, it's nylon bolts and not plastic. :o

Dave,

Just the bolts but nuts will be handy as i have a few older carts that doesn't have self tapped bodies, don't put ypourself out to look for them,
the site Jay posted looks good but am wndering if the 2mm one's might be .5mm too slim.

Hi guys, sorry just got back to this - thanks for the responses and the kind offer Dave. Just need to establish what type of bolts I really need.

Keith, are you sure they aren't M2.5 size? I've got some bolts that came with the SC35C - they seem to fit the thread but they're the wrong length - rather annoyingly one is too long the other too short. I guess I need some washers but I was concerned about raising the profile of the bolt head. Sorry guys, this is all new to me. How high or low should the needle/cartridge be in the headshell, or does it not matter?

I'd be asking these questions on LH but sometimes, unlike here, getting a response is like getting blood out of a stone.

A great resource, available in reasonable qtys, and just about every sort you have ever needed - provided it's metric.
In (my preference) of Stainless.
Great place for all your project fixings ;)

ok, thanks mate. I wasn't aware that was in the 'how to..' section. I'm almost at the end of my build and I haven't looked there for some time.

Looks like I'll have to order some from the US then, what a palava!

The last post in the thread mentions that, according to Dotfret, in the UK you should ask for 6BA as an equivalent to 3-48.

Having established that 6BAs don't fit, I found a conversion chart* that states that 3-48 UNC is the equivalent of M2.5 x0.45 pitch, so I got M2.5s which do fit.

When I say "headshell screws" I am referring to the cartridge screws, but my essential point is that 3-48 = M2.5x0.45 but is not the same as 6BA.

It seems they could be the same, but this isn't made clear in the 'How to...' section on LH.

Hi Paul,

Thanks - I've not spotted that post before. I knew 6BA weren't the same as 3-48, but didn't know that M2.5 were! Looks like you'll be fine with 'ordinary' cartridge mounting bolts then.

7BA is the nearest to 2.5mm.. equivalent to 3/48 UNC, 3/56 UNF.. It wont be millimeters being a 60's headshell.

Ha! well it now seems that's not strictly true - M2.5 will fit some Lenco headshells but its not strictly the correct thread. I can get M2.5 into mine and someone on LH has given me a UK supplier of 3-48 (even though the thread lengths aren't exactly what I need). God it's hard work on LH sometimes

Almost finished the TT btw, but accidentally bashed my lovely paintwork with a drill the other day

Would that be a US made SC35C?
