I can't believe I'm writing this but I've got itchy ears and am seriously considering replacing my big Usher CP6381 speakers. I love them too much to sell them do they're going into my second system if I can get three people to help me carry them up three flights of stairs.

So I'm looking for some second hand replacements.

My requirements are:

1. They must be BIG floorstanders (at least as big as my Ushers)
2. They must have a contemporary look.
3. Must be suitable for biamping as I'm using 4x Cyrus mono power amps and love them.
4. Obviously they have to sound brilliant.

Wide range of musical tastes but I never listen to classical, opera or pure jazz.
Ideally I suppose I'd like some more Ushers.

No idea of budget but I guess I'm going to have to spend well over £1,500 to better the Ushers but if you want to put some £10k speakers my way for a few quid I won't complain.

Suggestions welcome as well as firm offers.

Many thanks
Harry.

Look for some Sound Lab A-3 electrostatics. They look bloody big and damn impressive in my room. Sound pretty sublime too!

Bi-amping is out, and the Cyrus amps probably lack the 'grunt' though! :(

So apart from that lot ( and that I don't want electrostatics) they'll be perfect :-)

100 miles. Distance is not a problem. Why for you ask?

Harry,

These are nice and impressive. On demo in Doncaster, if you don't mind traveling.

Surely they should be paired with valves and not 4 monos?

I think the 5-25w power amp recommendation might be an issue.

They look very nice though. Certainly meet 1 and 2 but not sure they'd outperform my Ushers.

I'll pay you travel expenses, if they won't.

I have some Sachikos that I'm thinking of parting with, please see attached; they certainly fit your bill of being big and impressive!

These ones are a bit different as they have Fostex 208 Sigmas and not the usual run of the mill Fostex 206. They were made by our very own master craftsman Colin Topps from executive grade cherry veneered baltic birch plywood, they weigh about 70kg each are 7ft tall and have a very very impressive sound, they will simply make your hair stand on end.

I was in this showroom the other week and heard these. They are superb! Seem like they fit the bill. Steve who runs 'Hi-Fi Hangar' is a nice guy too.

I've been offered my dream speakers (usher BE10) at a very good price by a forum member. In more prosperous times I'd have snapped his hand off but I just don't have that sort of dosh at the moment. So, still looking guys.

Have you considered Cerwin Vega XLS 215's? They are monstrous, and sound great. Not so much on the 'contemporary' looks, tho' - depends on your taste.

Well, they're not the prettiest things I've ever seen. But they are big. Sadly, at £800 a pair I don't think they're going to outsmart my Ushers. Unless they are the bargain of the century.

Hi Harry -
If you are interested, check out zisaline.de. It's a German website, I got my XLS 12 s from there recently. They are great to deal with, and currently have the XLS 215 s available for 632 euros a pair, and will usually give a further discount if you ask for their best price. Plus, they will ship them to you for eu18.50, I kid you not! My speakers took 3 days door to door.
If you want to check it out, write to Frank at info@ zisaline.de.
PS I have no personal interest in promoting them, other than being a satisfied customer myself.
Hope that's helpful.
Cheers,
Nick.

Sorry m8 my mistake - that should read €634 each! So not quite as much of a bargain as I may have led you to believe!

Hi Harry

did you solve your speaker dilemma? I do have a Pr of ProAc CP6 for sale. One Cabinet has a small dent and the fron baffle very slightly delaminated. I have sent them away to get professionally repaired and am then selling to upgrade.

Regards
Andy
