Or something similar from the Audio Technica range.

Well, Dominic inspected it a while ago and found no issues, he said it hardly shows any signs of use. I've hardly used it since, four or five hours max! The only thing missing is the stylus guard, if it ever had one!

Price?... dunno, I've no idea what it's worth TBH! Care to make an offer? :)

I have no idea what it's worth either. Can you describe the characteristics of how it performs?

I heard the OC9 II on my deck yesterday and loved it.

I'm assuming you're not too keen on it if you've only had 5 hours use out of it?

Oh, I've had loads more use out of it than that, I just mean I've only used it a few hour since Dom checked it out. Shortly after that I bought a Allnic Verito Z (which I've hardly used either - vinyl has been a bit idle for a while!) so the ART1 is sitting around.

I went from a 33-PTG to the ART1 and I'd say there's very much an "AT family sound" thing going on, the ART being more extended in the bass and generally having a more refined presentation than the 33. Smoother and without the occasional "spitty" top end that you can sometimes get with the 33 too... Hard to say how it compares to the OC9 though, as it's been quite a while since I heard one, and that wasn't in my own system either.

I could live with either the AT or the Allnic TBH, but I don't need both!

I can offer you the Verito Z for a grand? :eyebrows:

Cheers...

Ah right, sorry, I completely miss-understood.

Well from what I can gather the 33 PTG does have similar sound to the OC9, I have been looking at the 33 PTG too, they seem fairly reasonably priced if bought from Hong Kong brand new.

I really have no idea what the value is for the ART1 is but a quick google search puts the second hand price of the 33 PTG at around £150. Would that be an acceptable offer?

Dunno, maybe... it's certainly got me thinking! :eyebrows:

If you fancy a '33', there's a couple for sale here: http://www.hifiwigwam.com/showthread.php?74541-FS-Audio-Technica-AT-33-EV-MC-cartridge-(also-AT-33-PTG-Mk-2-MC)

Thanks for the link but that's way over my budget. I think they can be had for quite a fair bit less from Honk Kong too.

I don't think the Art-1 ever had a stylus guard, can't remember one. At the time the art was AT's flagship model. Not to my taste, but then neither is the OC9.
