Quad 11 Question

Hi

Does anyone know how much room / air flow is recommended around quad 11 amps ?

I have a spare shelf in my rack with JUST enough headroom to slide them in . plenty of side room that is open

Can do a photo if needed :)

I'd be looking for a bit more space around them than that if I were you. I've never had a pair of the Quads but you can't get away from the fact that hot air rises. That, coupled with the height and orientation of the transformers in relation to the valves, I'd think you'd be asking for trouble.

I use a pair of croft rebuilt II's almost every day at present and I can assure you they run VERY HOT after a couple of hours, the mains transformers as hot as any class A amp heatsink, let alone the valves. In my opinion, you need at least 12" above the amps for proper ventilation, or better still, have them totally freestanding...

A definite ' no, no'. If that shelf is wood, you will burn it and maybe cause a fire..:eek:

I would allow at least 9 inches above and a free flow of air.
